Seattle’s Easter Swing

Spring is approaching and the Seattle Swing Dance Club is about to sponsor its annual Easter Swing Convention. This convention has a history going back to 1990 when the Seattle Swing Dance Club hosted a convention for the United seattle logoStates Swing Dance Council. Skippy Blair was the chief judge and Phil Trau and Ed Cirio were the deejays. Over 600 people attended that first swing convention here in Seattle. The event just happened to mark the anniversary of our clubs 25 anniversary and as such was named Seattle’s Silver Swing. The Seattle Swing Dance club is the oldest swing dance club in the nation.

In the years that have followed, we have continued to build on our success and lessons learned. Our convention provides a mix of competitions, workshops and social dancing that everyone seems to enjoy. Our professional staff provides over 30 workshops with classes designed from beginners to advanced dancers. easter logoAs a National Association of Swing Dance Events (NASDE) convention, we participate in the pool that provides incentives to professionals to attend our events. As a result, our attendees get to see the top competitors and the newest in what is happening in west coast swing. This year we are moving to a new hotel that allows us to have a bigger dance floor and more room for additional attendees.

So if you are tired of the shoveling snow in the East, Midwest or anywhere else the weather has been unpleasant lately, you should seriously think about coming to Seattle for Easter Swing. The show will be one of the best, the social dancing a lot of fun and at worst the weather will be in the 50’s with showers. It’s also the time of the year when all tulips and daffodils are blooming in our area so its usually very pleasant. Look at our website www.seattlewcswing.com for more information on our event.
