From the Editor’s Desk
Welcome to the ABA news, communicating with and supporting the member clubs of the American Bop Association. This newsletter is your forum for discussing ABA events, activities, policies, business, the how and why we did that, and just plain old fashioned “pass the word” concerning the ABA and your club.
Topic of the Quarter
I did not receive any responses to the Topic of the Quarter for the newsletter.
At an ABA Director and Club President’s meeting in Cincinnati, there was discussion as what the ABA could do or make available to the individual members of our dance clubs to make them not only more aware of the ABA, but more importantly make them feel a part of the ABA Family. I asked directors to explore what they thought could be done.

I think that we are all quilty of not sending enough material for the ABA newsletter. All of the presidents/directors do columns for their clubs and it wouldn’t be anymore effort to send them to you as an attachment, so that you could have material ready for the upcoming year. That would eliminate the pressure of creating a separate column “now” and would provide the newsletter with future topics.

For a long time I have thought that the dance community should use its resources to create a professional grade film (DVD) library of dance instruction in all styles of swing dancing. These could be sold to dancers at a reasonable price.
Surely, with the magnitude of the membership of the ABA organization, we could cultivate the talent and skills to generate such a library. Some dance lessons already exist with some of the clubs. They could be a start .
With all of the management talent on the ABA board of directors, I’m sure we can generate far more creative use of our treasury than to donate it to charity.

I think you will find Bill White's Christmas article and Sue Hurst's ABA Cruise article interesting. Be sure to read them. Thanks to Seattle Swing Dance Club, there are two other articles that may be of interest you. Be sure to take a look.
