9th Annual
Casino Royale Dance
March 9 & 10, 2007
The Memphis Bop club held their 9th Annual Casino Royale Dance Party on March 9 & 10, 2007. Although notices were sent to everyone about the late change of dates and the switch to a new location, the dance event was still a huge success with about 377 dancers attending.
This year our dance event was held at the Grand Casino Convention Center. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the bigger room with the larger dance floor. We had 30 clubs represented from 14 states with a lot of new faces in the crowd, as well as our faithful faces glowing in the group. Our dance instructors were Jim & Virginia Stanton from Hot Springs Arkansas and Gary and Charlotte Chaney from Barnhart Missouri. As usual, they held wonderful dance classes and all sessions were very well attended.
We were entertained by the Memphis Bop Club DJs; Dr. T (Tom) Claypool, Tom & Edie Polzin, and Eddie Richardson as well as our special out of town DJs; Larry Huff from Birmingham Alabama and Scotty Mack and Sue Thompson from Hot Springs Arkansas. We couldn’t have asked for better weather; with the temperatures in the upper 60’s and lower 70’s. I’m sure our visitors from Pennsylvania and Indiana enjoyed the change of weather with no snow.
We are in the process of setting our dates and place for next year and will keep everyone posted when we have final plans for our 10th Annual Casino Royale.
