BOP on the Lake 2007
Gone are the days of Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best and Ozzie and Harriet, but for a short time at Bop on the Lake 2007, we enjoyed some of the “simpler days” as the Little Rock Bop Club Players brought us their rendition of the movie Grease. We were taken back to the days of poodle skirts, bubble gum and switch blade combs. Who can forget the high school heart throb “Danny” played by Mike Nelson, and the innocent “Sandy” played by Kim Nelson. My, my, my, how the sparks did fly when “Sandy” came out of her shell! All I have left to say is “That’s Entertainment!”
We enjoyed Gary and Charlotte Chaney (Imperial Swing), Phil Dorroll (West Coast Swing), and our very own foursome, Jim and Virginia Stanton (East Coast Swing) and Mike and Kim Nelson (Street Swing), as our honored guests this year. Great tunes rolled all weekend from our DJs Scotty Mack, Tom&Edie Polzin, Larry Wheelis and Eddie Richardson.
Bop on the Lake is a three day dance party located in the elegant Arlington Hotel in Hot Springs, Arkansas, September 27th, 28th, and 29th , 2007. Those who wish to partake of the “full effect” of a Hot Springs retreat can be pampered to their hearts content, including mineral baths from the underground hot springs.
If shopping is your preference, this historic part of Hot Springs offers numerous shops that line the streets that one can meander through. However, dancing is the order of the weekend. Morning workshops are held on Friday and Saturday hosted by our “stars”. Afternoon dancing is always available and, of course, evening dancing and excellent showcases.
After a full day of shopping, dining and dancing, you can relax in the Arlington’s pool and hot tub, which holds soothing water from the hot springs, or you can stroll the nature walk that takes you by the hot springs.
I want to say thank you to all those who made this year’s Bop on the Lake an unforgettable experience! Also, huge thanks to Jim and Lennie Laux who have decided to retire as Bop on the Lake Co-Chairpersons. What can I say? You definitely went out with a bang! Thank you for all the years you have worked to make our Bop on the Lake such a great success.
