Annual “GALA” Event

St. Charles Imperial Dance Club

On 29 June 2007, St. Charles Imperial Dance Club (SCIDC) celebrated it’s 23rd anniversary with a party of gala proportion. The theme of the GALA was “Steppin’ Out With My Baby”. On this evening you were taken back to the days of the old movies with the likes of Fred Astaire and Judy Garland, to black top hats and canes and black tie affairs decked out in black and white attire. Yes, it was a GALA event composed of great music, great dancing, good food and a choreographed dance routine performed by sixteen board members and their spouses. The ballroom was adorded in glitz and glamour, punctuated with displays of black and white silhouetted couples from that era.

A delicious buffet was provided to all 225 dining in their best black and white attire and as the bountiful meal was fading and dessert was being served, the show started and the dance routine was introduced. The dancers, all dressed in black and white with top hats and canes, emerged from the theater entrance and performed a dance routine from the Broadway musical “Steppin` Out With My Baby”. At the end, the audience appreciated the excellence with a round of applause and a standing ovation.

The rest of the night was enjoyed by the memorable sounds and music provided by our own Doug Eskew teamed with Tom and Edie Polzin from Memphis, Tn. This awesome combination provided the great sounds and music for a memorable evening of fun and dance and memories to last a lifetime.
