Weighing In on the ABA Newsletter
I believe the ABA News is a significant part of the glue that holds the ABA together. If properly contributed to, it provides one of the largest benefits of the ABA which is the sharing of information and ideas between organizations that have similar problems and needs and common goals in promoting and perpetuating our dance. The ABA only has one formal meeting a year, so the newsletter is a way to keep in touch and keep the ABA in mind between annual meetings. Maximum benefit from the newsletter comes from each director’s making copies of each issue and putting them out at club dances for club members to pick up. Should the newsletter continue? Not only should it continue, but it must.
Where most of the newsletter’s articles should come from is a no-brainer. They should be contributed by ABA member clubs. We currently have 26 Regular member clubs. If every Regular member contributed only one article or contribution to a proposed topic a year, we would have tremendous input for the newsletter and Jim Watson’s job would be figuring out how to fit it all in instead of scrambling for ideas for each issue. What a wonderful way this is to get some publicity for your club and to highlight the diversity and significance of all our member clubs.
