ABA Cruise

Departed on January 28 and returned February 4, 2006

ABA 2006 Dance Cruise

Submitted by Jim Laux, Little Rock Bop Club

By any accounts, the inaugural ABA Dance Cruise was a huge success. 265 dancers from 25 dance clubs can attest to it.

The cruise left Ft.Lauderdale on January 28 and returned February 4 with stops in between at St. Thomas, St. Martin, and the Bahamas. Great weather, a beautiful ship, and lots of good friends added up to a wonderful experience.

Part of the planned activities during the cruise included an ABA sponsored cocktail party and seven dance workshops. Workshop instructors were Jim and Virginia Stanton, Rich and Blanca Kopels, Bruce and Patty Kass, John and Shirley Krauss, Tony and Myra Griemel, Bill Breithaupt and Gail Planer, and Gary and Charlotte Chaney.

“Great weather, a beautiful ship, and lots of good friends added up to a wonderful experience.”

Chicago Jitterbug Club was recognized as the top participant on the cruise with 19 cabins.

Plans are already in place for next year’s cruise which will run from January 27 to February 3 and will include stops at Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.

72 dancers from this year’s cruise have already signed up for next year.
