Party Notes

The party hotel is the place to stay!

by Paul Hennessey, Cincinnati Bop Club

When attending a Dance Event hosted by a non-profit dance club, always try to stay at the hotel where the party is taking place.

Here are some reasons why

  1. CONVENIENCE — You don’t have to drive or walk after you have been drinking. When you get tired – you are only a hallway away from a place to rest. You don’t have to look for another parking place. Also you feel more apart of the party and less alienated.
  2. PRICE VALUE — When you compare the savings of staying at a less expensive hotel down the street with the extra amenities and convenience offered at the host hotel – you aren’t really saving that much.
  3. TICKET VALUE — Believe it or not, it does help to lower your event ticket price. Most club negotiations with the hotel have to do with the total number of room nights. The lower the amount of room nights the more cost to the club, hence the higher the ticket price to cover the added cost.
  4. NEGOTIATIONS — It helps the Host Club in negotiations with the hotel. The more room nights the more space can be obtained for the party at a lower cost.
  5. COMP POLICY — Most hotel contracts have a clause which provides complimentary rooms for so many room nights rented. This lowers the club’s cost for Dee Jays and Workshop Instructors etc. Thus lowering the cost of the event.
“That’s $60
you saved.”

So your ticket price for the event was $35 and the Room Rate was $70 and you decided to save money and stay at another hotel anyway. You saved $20 a night for 3 nights. That’s $60 you saved.

You walked or drove back and forth to the party (Gas & Time). The club didn’t meet their room commitment to the hotel so they had to pay extra for (the ballroom, the DJ’s Room, or the Workshop Instructor’s room. Sometimes the difference is only a couple of rooms but the cost can be hundreds if not thousands of dollars to the club. Guess what happens to the ticket price – hotel negotiations etc for next year? They all go up or the club doesn’t throw a party cause it’s has become too expensive.

Who loose’s — YOU DO EVENTUALLY
Parties become too expensive or nonexistent
